Creating a new Media Storage

There are two ways to open the "Create Media Storage Wizard" in flexVDI Dashboard.

  • Select "Media Storage" in the "Storage" section in the left part of the window, then right-click on Media Storage. A new drop-down menu will be displayed where you can select the "New Media Storage" option and create a new Media Storage.
  • Push on the following icon   in the lower tools bar from the flexVDI Dashboard main window.

You will be presented with the following window:

You must provide a name for the new Media Storage and the press "Next".

In this window you must select the Hosts that will have access to the new Media Storage. Remember the selected Hosts must have network access to the storage defined as Media Storage.

Press "Next".

In the last step you will enter the data to connect to the CIFS shared folder where the files will be stored. You must provide the following information:

  • IP Address: is the IP address of the CIFS/SMB server where the directory with the ISO image files are located.
  • Path: this is the directory path where the ISO image file are located in the IP address previously defined.
  • User Name: user name that has privileges to access the shared folder.
  • Password: password corresponding to the user just entered.

Press "Finish" once you have provided the information.

The new Media Storage has just been created.

A new storage will be displayed in the left part of the window:

If you have correctly configured it, you'll see a green circle icon on top of the new storage. It can take several seconds until the flexVDI manager checks the status of the CIFS folder and informs flexVDI Dashboard about it, during which the Media Storage will be shown in unknown status.

When it changes to "ok" stattus, the right part of the window will show information regarding the ISO images in the repository.
