A quick way to start installing guests on the platform is to have a Media Storage offering ISOs housed in a local directory from one of the hosts of the platform. The flexVDI Config tool provides an option to manage a local Samba server for this purpose. To activate it, follow these steps:

  1. If not already exist, create the directory that will house the ISO images in one of the hosts. For example, / home / cifs.
  2. Start flexvdi-config tool.
  3. Select the CIFS option from the main menu. You will see the following menu:config_cifs.png
  4. Select the Activate option.
  5. Enter the current password for your instance of flexVDI Manager.
  6. Enter the path you created in the first step.config_cifs2.png
  7. Enter and confirm a password for access to that route.

Once finished, you will see a message confirming the result:

In addition to having access from the outside to store ISO images you just created, also it has an automatically created Media Storage cifs object name. Copy (if not already done) ISO images that route, and will be available for guests as creating installation media. Has more on storage objects in Chapter Storage Guide Getting started using flexVDI Dashboard 2.2 . The Deactivate menu option CIFS performs the reverse process described in this guide.
