flexClient is a program that lets you see and manage the Objects (Guests, Hosts, Pools, ...) in a Virtualized Data Center . The first task you must accomplish is connecting to flexManager.

A flexManager is a server that:

  • stores the configuration of the Virtualized Data Center.
  • sends commands (such as "start Guest myGuest") to the Hosts.
  • periodically polls Hosts to update the information regarding the state of Guests, Hosts, storage objects...

When you launch flexVMClient, the following window will be displayed:

You must provide the credentials needed to connect to the manager. Use "admin" as user, and the password you configured when you installed the manager with flexConfig.

Push the "new" button, next to the Manager list drop down. You can also use your keyboard to navigate through the fields and buttons.

The following windows will be displayed:

You must provide the following fields:

  • Name: name that will be given to the new connection configuration that we are defining. in the example we have selected myManager.
  • Hostname/IP: name of the manager we will connect to. It's the manager you already configured with flexConfig.

Note: Port "443" and "https" protocol should be left unchanged.

Push "Save".

The "Server Certificate" window will be shown to review the "Server Certificate" presented by the Manager.

In a simple default configuration, this is an automatically generated certificate issued to localhost.localdomain. Press "Install" to trust this certificate to authenticate the connections from now on.

The newly configured server should appear in the list in the upper part of "Manager Management" window. Now press "Finish" in the window.

You will be back in the login window, with all the fields filled with values. Click on "Sign in" and you will be in.

The program will present you the current configuration of your new Data Center.
